Abstract

Violent behavior is an ambiguous person, is always in anxiety, has negative evaluations of himself and others, and is unable to solve problems properly. Violent behavior is one of the patient's ways to solve problems. Uncontrolled violent behavioral responses by the patient will hurt his/herself, and people around such as the family and health workers to the hospital. This study aimed to determine the description of the violent behavior causalities in schizophrenic patients in Surakarta Hospital. The research used descriptive design. The total sample was 43 patients with the purposive sampling technique. The research was conducted at the Psychiatric Hospital of Surakarta in April-May 2023. The research instrument used a questionnaire on violent behavior causalities. Data analysis used a variance test in the form of frequency and percentage tables. The results presented the violent behavior causalities in schizophrenia patients at RSJD Dr. Arif Zainudin. Specifically, the predisposing factor of mental disorders was found in 37 people (86.0%) of the sample. Psychological factors, such as difficulty expressing ideas or talking, were present in 37 people (86.0%), and socio-cultural factors, such as failure at work, were found in 27 people (62.8%). The results of the study showed that violent behavior in schizophrenia patients at RSJD Dr. Arif Zainudin could be influenced by predisposing factors, psychological factors, and socio-cultural factors.
