THE INFLUENCE OF CHILDREN'S MOTHER CLASS ON THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF MOTHERS ABOUT STUNTING
IN BULAKREJO VILLAGE

ABSTRACT

Nutritional problems, especially stunting in toddlers can hinder children's development, with negative impacts that will take place in later life such as intellectual decline, vulnerability to non-communicable diseases, decreased productivity leading to poverty and the risk of giving birth to babies with low birth weight. One of the programs to tackle stunting is the toddler class. The toddler mother class is a group learning activity in a class with several mothers who have children under five (0-5 years) under the guidance of one or several facilitators using the MCH book as a learning tool. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mothers' classes with posters on the level of mothers' knowledge about stunting in Bulakrejo Village.
This study used a Pre-Experiment with the One Group Pretest-Postest design. The population of this study was mothers under five, with the number of mothers under five in Bulakrejo Village, Sukoharjo District, Sukoharjo Regency totaling 52 people. The characteristics of respondents based on age were mostly 21-30 years old, there were 23 people (44.23%), there were 21 people with university education (40.38%) and there were 33 people who were multipara mothers (63.46%). mother's knowledge about stunting in Bulakrejo Village before being given health education with poster media most of the respondents were in the low category there were 22 people (42.31%) and a small number were in the good category 10 people (19.23%) after being given health education with media posters, most of the respondents were in the good category, there were 28 people (53.8%) and a small number were in the low category, 5 people (9.6%).
There was a significant effect between the mother-to-five class and the posters on the level of mother's knowledge about stunting, closeness both of these variables are quite strong with a p-value of 0.000.
