ABSTRACT

Folic acid is one of the vitamins, included in the vitamin B group, is an important element in the synthesis of DNA (deoxyribo nucleic acid). Midwives play a role in the process of forming adherence to folic acid consumption in a woman of childbearing age (WUS). One form of the midwife's role is to provide support by means of assistance, for example visiting the homes of the prospective bride and groom to ensure that the prospective bride and groom regularly drink folic acid can provide high motivation for folic acid consumption in the prospective bride and groom (Maqfirah, 2014). This study aims to determine the effect of assisted drinking of folic acid by midwives on the compliance of the bride and groom in consuming folic acid at the UPTD of the Bulu Sukoharjo Health Center.
This study used a Quasi Experiment with the One Group Pretest-Postest design. The characteristics of the respondents based on age were mostly between the ages of 21-30, namely 23 respondents or 69.70% of the total respondents, then the education of the majority of respondents was high school graduates, namely there were 18 respondents or 54.6% and the majority were already working, namely 26 respondents or 78.79 %. Compliance of the prospective bride and groom in consuming folic acid before the assistance was the majority were disobedient, namely there were 25 respondents or 75.8% of the total respondents, then after the assistance the majority became obedient, namely there were 31 respondents or 93.9% of the total respondents.
There is a significant influence between the effect of drinking folic acid assistance by midwives on the compliance of the bride and groom in consuming folic acid at the Uptd Puskesmas Bulu Sukoharjo. The closeness of the two variables is quite strong with a p-value of 0.000.
