Abstract

Surgery is a treatment that is carried out using invasive techniques by opening or exposing the part of the body to be treated through an incision which ends with closing and suturing the wound. If the surgical wound is not treated properly, it can cause a microbial infection in the patient called ILO. This study aims to evaluate the use of prophylactic antibiotics in surgical inpatients at Hospital X Surakarta. The method in this research is descriptive observational research. The research method used was a cohort, data was obtained retrospectively through searching medical records of surgical patients at Hospital "X" Surakarta City for the period July-September 2022 using a purposive sampling method which was then analyzed using the Gyssens method. The results of evaluating the rationality of appropriate use of prophylactic antibiotics in surgical patients are category IVC (6%), category IVA (14%), category IIIB (13%), category IIIA (10%), category 0 (80%). The results of the rationality evaluation were then tested statistically to see the relationship with the ILO incident, where the p value was > 0.05, which means there is no relationship.
