Abstract

Abstract

The pregnancy process will cause pregnant women to experience physical and psychological changes. These changes in pregnant women often cause discomfort which will be felt differently in each trimester of pregnancy. Some changes in the body cause discomfort, especially in the third trimester. The discomfort of pregnant women in the third trimester can be overcome by doing pregnancy exercises, which play a role in strengthening contractions and maintaining the flexibility of the muscles in the pelvic floor area, making the mind relaxed and providing a sense of comfort and making the mother more prepared and calm to face the birthing process.
This type of research uses pre-experimental research with a one-group pretest–posttest design type. The subject group was observed before the intervention was given and then observed again after the intervention was given. The sample used was 35 third-trimester pregnant women who experienced discomfort. The research was carried out in the working area of the Baki Community Health Center with a sampling technique using the Slovin formula, while data analysis used the Paired sample t-test (Pretest and Posttest). From the results of this study, it was shown that discomfort in the third trimester by carrying out a pretest before carrying out pregnancy exercises was 3 respondents with discomfort < 6 and 32 respondents with discomfort > 6. Post-test results after being given pregnancy exercises on the 7th day showed a decrease in discomfort > 6 for 9 respondents and discomfort < 6 for 26 respondents. From the pretest post-test T-test results there was a mean of 1.91 ± 1.26 95% Confidence Interval 0.450 – 0.816 p= 0.000. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test (Pretest and post-test) obtained a p-value: of 0.000, meaning that the alpha value of 0.608 shows that there is a significant difference between discomfort before and after doing pregnancy exercise.
The conclusion we got from this research is that pregnancy exercise is very effective in reducing discomfort in third-trimester pregnant women. And we recommend that pregnant women in the third trimester are highly recommended to do pregnancy exercises in the pregnant women's class or can be done at home.
