Abstract
Adolescent girls generally do not have sufficient knowledge at the time of menarche, lack of knowledge causes errors in menstrual hygiene practices in the future, and has a negative impact on health. According to the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia (2018), countries in the Southeast Asia region including Indonesia have knowledge about sex and reproductive health on average below 40%. On the other hand, booklets are considered as media that have a very high level of effectiveness in providing education or knowledge to teenagers. This study aims to describe the effect of giving menstrual booklets on the level of knowledge of young women in Jendi Village, Girimarto District, in addition to knowing the level of knowledge of young women before and before being given health education with the media of menstrual booklets. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a Pre-test Post-test Control Group design approach where the object of research is 36 students at SD N II Girimarto and SD N II Jendi. The results showed that before being given health education with booklets, students' knowledge about menstruation was 72% less and 28% moderate. Then after getting health education with the media Booklet, the knowledge of adolescent girls changed, where 78% had good knowledge and 22% in the medium category. This shows that the menstrual booklet has a positive influence on the knowledge of young women about menstruation in Jendi Village, Girimarto District.
