Abstract

Fracture is a discontinuity of bone tissue that is usually caused by sudden violence. The strength and angle of physical exertion, the state of the bone itself, and the soft tissue around the bone will determine whether the fracture is complete or incomplete. Patients with fractures experience pain in the area around the fracture. One of the pain treatments in fracture patients is by non-pharmacological cold compresses. The purpose of this case study is to find out the description of nursing care in fracture patients in meeting safe and comfortable needs. This type of case study is descriptive with a case study approach. The subject was a 1/3 tibia dextra closed fracture patient with a diagnosis of acute pain nursing in the emergency room of RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. The results of a case study on the management of nursing care in fracture patients in meeting the need for a sense of security and comfort with acute pain nursing problems performed by cold compress nursing care for 10 minutes in the proximal and distal area around the fracture results in a decrease in pain scale 5 to 2 within 20 minutes. Recommendation: Cold compress therapy is effective in fracture patients with acute pain problems of less than 48 hours.
