ABSTRACT

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible disorder of kidney function, where the body is unable to maintain metabolism, fluid balance, and electrolytes resulting in an increase in ureum. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chewing gum on thirst in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients at RSUD dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen. Method: The research method used is a case study of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) a number of one person. Result: The result with the category was successful there was a decrease in thirst level during the third meeting. The implementation of sugar- free mint gum from Xylitol is carried out for 3 days with meetings per day with a duration of each session of 15 minutes. Conclusion: Based on the description above, it can be concluded that sugar-free mint gum from Xylitol affects thirst in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients at RSUD dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen.
