ABSTRACT
Gastroenteritis is an infection caused by viruses, bacteria, and parasites with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and signs of dehydration. Dehydration or lack of body fluids require parenteral fluids where children with gastroenteritis require hospitalization which can cause symptoms of anxiety. The case study aimed to determine the description of nursing care for children with gastroenteritis: anxiety with puppet storytelling therapy intervention. The type of research was descriptive with a case study approach method. The subject was a pediatric patient with anxiety, which was conducted on January 30 - 31, 2024 at Pandanarang Regional Hospital Boyolali. The intervention used in this case study was puppet storytelling. Puppet storytelling was practiced for 10 minutes for 2 days. This study used the Spence Children Anxiety Scale (SCAS) questionnaire and anxiety level observation sheet before and after the puppet storytelling intervention. The results showed a decrease in anxiety from a score of 53 (moderate anxiety) to 14 (not anxious). Recommendation: Puppet storytelling can be used to help reduce anxiety in hospitalized children.
