Abstract

Hypertension is the increase in blood pressure, systolic >140mmHg and diastolic
>90mmHg. Hypertension can increase the risk of cerebral perfusion. Blood pressure in
hypertension can be treated with slow, deep breathing exercise therapy. Slow deep
breathing exercise is done to decrease the blood pressure which is done twice a day in the
morning and evening, with a duration of 15 minutes per session for 4 days. This case study
aimed to describe nursing care for hypertension patients: risk of ineffective cerebral
perfusion by intervention of slow, deep breathing exercise. The method used in this research
is a case study with a descriptive approach. The case study was carried out on 31 January
– 3 February 2024, the subject used was a hypertension patient with risk of ineffective
cerebral perfusion in Mpu Bharada Room at Pandanarang Hospital of Boyolali by applying
slow, deep breathing exercise. Evaluation of measurement in this study used a blood
pressure observation sheet before and after giving slow, deep breathing exercise therapy.
The result obtained by the authors for 4 consecutive days was found to be effective in
reducing blood pressure from 173/97 mmHg to 128/76 mmHg. Based on the discussion
above, slow deep breathing exercise can be applied to patients with hypertension.
