Abstract
Cancer is a condition with rapid and abnormal cell growth in the body. Cancer patients experience breathlessness, feel discomfort, and exhibit a reduction in oxygen saturation from 95% to 90%, even when oxygen is via a cannula or mask. Dhikr affects physiological responses to hemodynamic changes, including oxygen saturation.
This study aimed to identify the effect of dhikr therapy on oxygen saturation in lung cancer patients at Dr Moewardi Hospital. The quantitative study employed a pre-experiment and one-group pretest-posttest design. Twenty people were used as samples. This study utilized the Standard Operating Procedure (SPO) of Dhikr and oxygen measuring instruments. Oxygen saturation was measured pre- and post-Dhikr. The results were recorded directly.
Before the dhikr therapy intervention, the mean oxygen saturation was recorded at 97.9%. Post-intervention, the value increased to 98.5%. A bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.002. A significant effect was observed, as indicated by a p-value of less than 0.05.Based on the study's results, dhikr therapy significantly affects oxygen saturation in lung cancer patients. Further research may focus on dhikr therapy's effect on respiratory rate.
